The Friends of Black Mountain Fundraising Committee is gearing up for the Second Annual Benefit Auction!
The auction will take place on Friday, November 21st, 2014 at the Black Mountain Base Lodge, on Glover Road in Rumford.
Doors will open at 5:00pm and the auction will begin at 6:30pm. Pub food will be available from 5:00pm-7:30pm. Plus, we are proud to say that our Auctioneer will be the one and only Mike Brennick of Rumford!
Committee members have been working diligently and have gathered many wonderful items for this year's auction. Members want to express their gratitude to all the local, as well as out-of-town businesses, family and friends that have contributed to this worthy cause. “Without the strong continued support and thoughtfulness of our surrounding community, this event would not be possible. The River Valley region is exceptional. Anyone that attends the event will not only have fun, but will have the opportunity to walk away with some wonderful items!”
What do we have for the auction? Some of the items we have include: a Cord of Wood, tools, a patio heater, a lighted toilet seat, gift baskets, homemade goodies, one last ride in the Black Mountain Groomer with Jeff Knight who is retiring after this season, and much more!
If any businesses or individuals are interested in donating an item or making a monetary donation to the auction, you may still do so by contacting
Sue Adley (207-364-4919) or Sherry Milligan (207-357-7548).

Dear valued friend of Black Mountain,
A Board member once said “we are a small ski area that does big things”. With Maine’s fourth tallest vertical, we are actually now a big ski area that has done some pretty big things – recently, with a lot of help from our loyal customers.
Our focus has always been to make skiing accessible to everyone by providing the best skiing value in Maine. All of us associated with Black Mountain have been moved over the past two seasons by the waves of new families and positive response to what we have to offer: top to bottom snow making, a relaxed family atmosphere, a dedicated novice area, a beautiful lodge, affordable rentals, a ski school and a café – and our $15 lift ticket.
In order to continue to operate and offer this winter skiing experience, we have to make sure that our operations are sustainable. The Operating Board has thought long and hard about this and although we remain committed to maintaining accessibility, we have come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve that is to adjust our rates. Below is a pricing guide for the 2014/2015 ski season.
Day Lift Tickets
All Day, Every Day.................. $25.00
Alpine Season Passes
July 1st – August 31st................ $175.00
September 1st – November 30th...... $210.00
December 1st – On................... $250.00
By taking advantage of our early Season Pass offer, and assuming you ski 10 or more times throughout the season, the actual cost per lift ticket will be $17.50 or less.
Our new prices ensure Black Mountain remains the best family skiing value in the State of Maine, if not the entire east coast, while making it more possible for us to continue the nearly 100 year tradition of skiing in Rumford. We hope that you will understand and that we will have your continued support.
Please help us pass the word about Black Mountain. In addition to our world class alpine skiing, Black Mountain boasts the best family-friendly atmosphere. We also offer world class cross country trails which are groomed wide for you to enjoy, the Edge Tubing Park with great runs and no lines, and the Last Run Pub which offers great après ski entertainment every weekend after 3pm.
Black Mountain is not a business for any of us. It is a non-profit organization with an Operating Board that has a passion for skiing and a deep pride in our community. It has been an honor to be involved in this project and to serve you and your family when you visit our mountain. We will never take your support for granted and sincerely hope to see you, your family and friends back at Black next season.
