Say "Hi" to Justin
Chisholm Alpine Race Team Coach

Hi, my name is Justin Lagassey. I have been a lifelong skier & am originally from Windham & now Turner, Maine. I've been involved in ski racing since 2003 as a founding member of the Windham Middle School Ski Team, went on to compete in USSA events with Shawnee Peak Race Team finally scoring a sub 100 point race in the last race of my USSA career.

I attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute for Chemical Engineering, with several projects in the Sports Engineering Lab that were presented for the International Society for Skiing Safety in Bariloche, Argentina. As a competitor with the WPI Ski Team in the Thompson Division of USCSA, I helped the team qualify for & compete in the 2014 National Championships in Lake Placid in both alpine & nordic events.

For the last four winters I've been coaching the Shawnee Peak Race Team, primarily in the U16-19 program. My focus in coaching has been on cultivating methods of deliberate practice for my athletes including timed training, video analysis, drill progressions, & slaying the woods on powder days. In conjunction with aforementioned powder slaying, I'm pursuing ski touring as the next skiing discipline to master & will be dabbling in nordic skate skiing this winter. My certifications are as a USSA level 100 coach & I also hold a Wilderness Advanced First Aid cert. My coaching philosophy is simple; have fun, go fast, & stay safe.

In my professional life, I run the cider making program for the Mainiac Cider at Ricker Hill Farms, crafting a variety of alcoholic beverages made from apples. As an athlete, I am pursuing enduro mountain bike racing at the continental level & am working hard to get paid to ride bikes someday soon.
